GlobaLS and ERC StG project – MapModern’s communications manager

Cristina Sánchez Sánchez

Cristina Sánchez is the Communications Manager for the Global Literary Studies Research Lab (GlobaLS) and the ERC StG project “Social Networks of the Past. Mapping Hispanic and Lusophone Literary Modernity, 1898-1959” (Grant agreement 803860) led by Diana Roig-Sanz at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

She holds a degree in advertising and public relations (2014, earning an Extraordinary End of Studies Award), a masters’ degree in social communications research (2015), and a PhD in communications (2020, Cum Laude), all from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her doctoral thesis won first prize at the XXXII Awards for Research on Audiovisual Communication organised by the Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya (Catalan Government).

Previously, she worked as a communications trainee at cultural and non-governmental organizations (2013-2014), as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of Communications at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2014-2015), and as a predoctoral researcher, also at said department (2015-2019), collaborating with the research groups Medium, CritiCC and UNICA.

Her main research lines include narrative-semiotic discourse and image analyses, the study of media and political communication, critical studies on happiness, the rhetoric of social problems, and the relationship between socioeconomic contexts and public discourse.
