Elisabet Carbó-Catalan

Elisabet Carbó Catalan is currently a member of the ERC StG project “Social Networks of the Past: Mapping Hispanic and Lusophone Literary Modernity, 1898-1959” (Grant Agreement: 803860). The doctoral dissertation she is undertaking, under the supervision of Diana Roig-Sanz and Reine Meylaerts, addresses the role of Ibero-American cultural mediators in the Organization of Intellectual Cooperation, at the crossroads of cultural history, international cultural relations, translation history, and cultural transfer studies and network research.

At the undergraduate level, she studied translation and interpreting as well as French philology (UAB). She holds a master’s degree in Catalan didactics for adults (UB-UVic) and completed an Erasmus Mundus Master Course in European literary cultures (Université de Strasbourg and Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna), specializing in the sociology of translation and the circulation of peripheral literatures.

Carbó has worked as a professor of Catalan studies at the University of Bologna (2016-2018) and is a sworn translator.

Her research interests include cultural internationalism, cultural and literary circulation, translation history, and the relationships between power and culture.
