Ventsislav Ikoff
Ventsislav Ikoff is a postdoctoral researcher for the ERC StG project “Social Networks of the Past. Mapping Hispanic and Lusophone Literary Modernity, 1898-1959” (Grant Agreement: 803860) at the IN3, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
Previously, he was a research assistant at the UOC, where he worked on the projects “Trad-Data: Translation and Market. The Circulation of Books (Spain-Latin America, 1900-1945) and Big Data” and “MapModern: Mapping Hispanic Modernity. Cross-border Literary Networks and Cultural Mediators (1908-1939)”, funded respectively by BBVA and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
He has a PhD in language sciences and translation from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), with a thesis on the literary translation flows between Bulgaria and the Spanish-speaking world and cultural mediators in the area from the end of the nineteenth century to the present.
His research interests include the sociology of translation, the circulation of translated literature, cultural mediators, and the digital humanities. His current work focuses on using computational methods to study cultural-transformation processes in regards to Ibero-American modernist journals, Ibero-American film mediators, and the institutionalization of Ibero-American cultures.
